Press Release

CHICAGO, IL – Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and Cook County Board of Commissioners President Toni Preckwinkle convened an event with Senator Dick Durbin, US Representatives from the Chicago area, and Members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners to encourage health insurance enrollment through GetCoveredIllinois.org on the eve of its December 15th deadline.

“I want to thank President Preckwinkle, Senator Durbin, and all my Congressional Colleagues for joining me today on the second to last day of this year’s insurance open enrollment period,” said Congressman Krishnamoorthi’s. “We came together today to mark the tremendous progress that the Affordable Care Act brought, as well as the importance of signing up for health insurance before tomorrow’s deadline. Enrollment for 2019 is down 11% from last year, due in large part to the Trump administration’s cuts to outreach programs and advertising. I’m proud to see that so many of my Illinois colleagues are stepping up to fill this void and remind everyone to sign up for an ACA plan today. “

Other speakers at the event included Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Congresswoman Robin Kelly, Congressman-Elect Sean Casten, Congresswoman-Elect Lauren Underwood, and Dr. Claudia Fegan, Chief Medical Officer for Cook County.
