Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Mike Enzi, John Barrasso and Representative Cynthia Lummis, all R-Wyo., are encouraging students and graduates from all backgrounds to apply for internships in their Washington, D.C. offices this fall.

The deadline for applications is June 17 for Enzi’s office, June 11 for Barrasso’s office, and June 17 for Lummis’ office.

“Interns play an important role in my office and help out with everything from constituent services to attending hearings,” Enzi said. “It’s exciting for students to have the opportunity to live and work in the nation’s capital where they can get firsthand experience that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.”

“Internships in our D.C. and Wyoming offices provide Wyoming students with a unique opportunity to view firsthand how our government operates,” Barrasso said. “I encourage all students who are interested to apply for this invaluable experience.”

“I firmly believe that all of our interns walk away with a deeper appreciation and understanding of how our government operates and an instilled sense of civic duty,” Lummis said.

The internships, which include hands-on, individualized activities, offer experience in the heartbeat of the nation’s government. Interns are able to network, develop crucial job skills and cultivate meaningful experiences to further their education and career goals. Typical intern tasks include giving Capitol building tours, writing policy or hearing summaries, preparing memos, conducting research for legislative aides, observing floor proceedings and attending committee hearings and lectures.

Interns receive a monthly stipend to defray the cost of living in Washington, D.C. and can also coordinate receiving college credit for the internship. Priority is given to students from Wyoming or those studying in Wyoming.
