Defense and National Security
National Defense is the number one responsibility of the Federal government, and the technological advantage our troops have in the field today is due to investments in R&D from years past. Congressman Brooks believes we must continue to commit the resources necessary to maintain our advantage in the field over any potential enemy of the future.
Congressman Brooks founded and co-chairs the Army Aviation Caucus, which has the mission of assuring Army Aviation has the support needed to successfully perform current and future missions. The bi-partisan Caucus is made up of more than 40 members and meets an average of once a month. In addition to educational sessions, the Caucus has sent letters to the Administration asking for clarification on several issues and is a great avenue for community and military involvement.
As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Brooks helps maintain robust funding for defense generally and missile defense programs, in particular. Brooks also advocates for the Tennessee Valley’s expertise in advanced hypersonic, directed energy technology, and cyber security.

Washington, DC— Thursday, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) expressed support for the Trump Administration’s efforts to stand up Space Force as a sixth branch of the military following Vice President Mike Pence’s speech on Space Force at the Pentagon.
Washington, DC— Thursday, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) voted for H.R. 5515, the House and Senate Conference Report for the FY 2019 National Defense Authorization Act (“NDAA”). The NDAA passed the House 359-54. The NDAA authorizes America’s national security programs.
Washington, DC— Thursday, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) and Norris Cylinder Company praised the Department of Commerce’s preliminary decision to increase countervailing duties on Communist China’s high pressure steel cylinders. Four Republican House colleagues, including Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas, co-signed Congressman Brooks’ June 13, 2018 letter to Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross seeking administrative review of Communist China’s anti-competitive and unfair trade practices.
Washington, DC— Wednesday, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) voiced support for President Trump’s efforts to have North Atlantic Treaty Organization allies contribute more to Europe’s defense. President Trump is in Brussels, Belgium Wednesday and Thursday to participate in NATO meetings.
Washington, DC— Today, Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) voted “Yes” on H.R. 6157, the Fiscal Year 2019 Department of Defense Appropriations Act, which passed the House 359-49. Congressman Brooks serves on the House Armed Services Committee and sits on the Strategic Forces and Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittees.
