Old enough to remember the time in 2018 when Trump/Ryan/McConnell shut down the government because we couldn’t afford $3.4B for health care for low-income kids. But please, lecture us about how spending $5B on an ineffective wall is in our national interest.

My congressman, , changed his twitter pic to reflect how the GOP is acting concerning the shutdown... and really, the whole Trump presidency. You earned my vote in the past election, and I’m sure you’re going to keep representing CT’s interests to earn it next time!

I hope we who have supported this administrations initiatives over the last two years can persuade the President to choose a different direction. But we must also fulfill our constitutional duty to conduct oversight over the policies of the executive branch. 2/2

Just read Gen. Mattis resignation letter. It makes it abundantly clear that we are headed towards a series of grave policy errors which will endanger our nation, damage our alliances & empower our adversaries. 1/2

Saddened and concerned with Jim Mattis’ resignation. He was one of the few “adults in the room”. The GOP Senate must now finally realize that their duty is to consent only to a new SecDef and AG who will stand with American values.

"At the end of the day, we need to know why so many people were willing to risk going to jail and in fact are going to jail because they lied about the campaign and the President’s contacts and deals with Russia," Democrat Rep. of the House Intelligence Committee says.

The lies are so dense here that you might forget that Comey announced to the world, pre-election, twice, the investigation of Clinton, while staying mum on the investigation of Donald Trump. Comey probably HELPED ELECT Trump.

I worry about this. There are highly-placed people inside and around this administration who would quietly welcome war with Iran. As in Iraq, they hope it would end well without having a clue. Watch for all the devices used to get us into the Iraq war.

Gerrymandering is a plague that has warped our democracy and made our politics increasingly hyperpartisan. Ending gerrymandering will make the House actually representative and reduce the partisan gridlock that has ground the gears of government nearly to a halt.

I always wake up a little sick on this awful anniversary of the Sandy Hook shootings. And then get angry at the mindless unwillingness of so many leaders to even grapple with our gun violence problem. Their inaction is complicity.

In fact, it's BECAUSE these decisions are so hard that your representatives in Congress should bear the responsibility. Whether it's Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, or the risk of future wars in places like Iran, you deserve a Congress that will speak up and do its job. 3/3

Instead of abrogating our duty, Congress should be reclaiming our power as laid out in the Constitution. Deciding whether to use military force in your name is the most serious decision a Representative can make, and we can't cede that to the President just because it's hard 2/3

In a procedural vote today, the House may limit Congress's power to curtail US involvement in the brutal Saudi war in Yemen. It represents a further stripping of Congress's Constitutional war powers, and the Republican commitment to a horrible war. 1/3
