ROSEN SPEAKS ON HOUSE FLOOR AGAINST REPUBLICAN TAX SCAM
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) spoke against the Republican tax bill on the House floor:
“This week, Republicans are continuing to work behind closed doors to put the finishing touches on their disastrous tax bill that will hurt countless families in Nevada and across this country.
“Let’s be clear: this monstrosity of a bill would eventually slam many of Nevada’s hardworking families with a tax increase while adding more than $1 trillion dollars to our national debt. And to make matters worse, the Senate version of this bill would spike health care premiums and cause millions to lose their health care coverage -- all so billionaires and giant corporations can receive an unnecessary tax cut.
“Mr. Speaker, Americans can see clearly that this bill is just a giveaway to wealthy campaign donors and giant corporations at the expense of regular hardworking families.
“We need a tax code that’s focused on putting money back in the pockets of all families, not one that creates even worse wealth and income inequality -- and certainly not one that puts profits before people.”
BACKGROUND: Congresswoman Rosen voted against the House version of the Republican tax bill and penned an Op-ed in the Las Vegas Sun detailing her opposition to the House version of the GOP bill. Earlier this week, Rosen voted against a motion to go to conference on the Republican tax bill.
