Rep. Jacky Rosen (NV-03) attends Gold Medal Ceremony to honor Nevada’s Filipino veterans

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV -- Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, attended the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony honoring Nevada’s Filipino veterans at North Las Vegas City Hall.

“Our previous failure to thank and acknowledge Filipino World War II veterans for their service is a shameful chapter in our history that we need to keep correcting,” said Rosen. “Although decades have passed and we can never fully repay our debt to these heroes, I’m honored to be part of recognizing the valor of Nevada’s Filipino veterans who gave so much for our great nation. To our Filipino World War II veterans and their families, we thank you and will always honor your service and sacrifice.”

BACKGROUND: Rosen is a co-sponsor of the Filipino Veterans Fairness Act, which mandates that all Filipino WWII veterans be considered fully eligible for veterans’ benefits, fulfilling the U.S. government’s promise after many decades. Rosen also helped introduce the Filipino Veterans Family Reunification Act, which would exempt the children of Filipino WWII veterans who are naturalized U.S. citizens from caps on immigrant visas.

Rosen is a member of the Congressional U.S.-Philippines Friendship Caucus and an associate member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.
