Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., is pleased to announce that the Big Horn County Health Coalition to Prevent Drug Use in Lovell has received a federal Drug-Free Communities (DFC) grant to be used to reduce substance abuse among youth in the area.

"In a small community many people do not realize how big a problem drugs can be. The Health Coalition is being proactive in Big Horn County and this funding can continue the efforts being made to eradicate substance use, especially meth,"Enzi said.

The Big Horn County Health Coalition was one of 107 community coalitions across the country chosen to receive a new grant up to $500,000 over five years to community organizations that serve as catalysts for citizen participation in local drug prevention efforts. Big Horn County was the only community in Wyoming to receive new funding this fiscal year. There were a total of 353 applicants nation-wide for the new funding.

The goals of the Big Horn County Health Coalition are to prevent the onset and reduce the progression of substance use in Big Horn County including underage drinking, tobacco, marijuana and methamphetamine use.

The DFC grant funding is administered through the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
