Congressman Langevin is shown a Yushin robotic component during his tour

Dear Friends,

It has been a beautiful summer in Rhode Island, and for me, a wonderful time to travel the Second District. This August was particularly exciting, as I embarked on my RI in Business tour to hear from business owners about the challenges and benefits of doing business in Rhode Island, and have meaningful conversations about what we can do, together, to improve our state’s overall economic climate.

While we often consider business to be a solitary endeavor, the truth is that individual success can translate into the success of our state. RI in Business is just another way to bring private industry and public resources together, resulting in better communication, increased collaboration and, ultimately, we hope, innovation.

There are so many business success stories right here in our backyard. Those stories aren’t being told, and that changes right now. We need to build them up. We need to identify their best practices and share those ideas with start-ups. And we need to tell anyone who will listen that there is economic growth happening in Rhode Island, and we want more of it.

To learn more about some of our state’s best and brightest, please visit my blog, and follow me on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.

            Sincerely,

           Rep. Langevin's Signature

Getting a Jumpstart
During this Congress, House Speaker John Boehner has kept too many commonsense bills from seeing the light of day. House Democrats are tired of waiting. As we return to session, my colleagues and I are pushing the Middle Class Jumpstart Agenda, a plan to expand access to affordable education, ensure equal pay for women and support the creation of good-paying jobs right here through the Make It in America Act.

Keeping Watch
Our nation and our world are facing unprecedented challenges. I am very concerned about our national security, particularly as the ruthless terrorist organization, ISIS, continues to increase instability in the Middle East. While our next steps are still under discussion, I want to reassure you that I am monitoring the situation closely, and as a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, I am always thinking first of the safety of our nation and of our brave men and women in uniform.
