Yoho Has Hand in Shaping Energy and Water Appropriations Bill

May 1, 2015
Press Release

Washington, D.C.Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL-03) voted in favor of H.R. 2028—Fiscal Year 2016 Energy and Water Appropriations. The legislation provides annual funding for national defense nuclear weapons activities, the Army Corps of Engineers, various programs under the Department of Energy (DOE), and other related agencies. H.R. 2028 invests in America's infrastructure, helps achieve energy independence, and cuts the Administration’s red tape.

Congressman Yoho gave the following statement:

“There is a lot in the bill we passed today that helps to make the country strong. I have always said it is time to rebuild America and this appropriations bill aims to do just that, by allocating much needed funds towards infrastructure projects.

“In addition to infrastructure, this legislation strengthens our national security. It funds programs to help us achieve energy independence and ensures our military is not only ready to respond to overseas threats, but makes sure our nation’s nuclear stockpile is safe, secure, and reliable.

"Lastly and more importantly for the people of my district, it prohibits the implementation of ‘Waters of the U.S.’ I am happy that the language I requested to stop this disastrous rule made its way into the final language. The 'Waters of the U.S.’ rule, if implemented, would have a devastating effect on farmers and ranchers, small businesses, and economic development not only in North Central Florida but across America. Today we stopped that from happening.  ”
