STATEMENTStatement from Rep. Capuano on President Trump Executive OrdersJanuary 29, 2017 “Albert Einstein was one of a few refugees allowed into the United States from Nazi Germany. Millions more were refused. As a nation, we said "Never Again". Yet with the stroke of a pen, President Trump has set the United States down a callous and legally questionable path. “I am grateful for the recent emergency court rulings temporarily halting aspects of his unconstitutional Executive Order but this is far from over. We are watching the beginning of efforts to ban Muslims from entering the U.S. regardless of circumstances, which is exactly what Trump said he would do during the campaign. “We are not powerless, even though it might feel that way sometimes. So many people have stood up, in airports and in cities, in person and virtually, all around our great country to defend those who cannot defend themselves, and to show the world we will not be silent. I thank you and I stand with you. “Lady Liberty may have tears in her eyes today, but she still lifts her lamp "beside the golden door.”
