Washington, D.C. – The Powder River Fire District, in Kaycee, Wyoming, is set to receive federal assistance to help fund the resources needed to protect their community, according to U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo.

The Powder River Fire District will receive $44,550 in a federal grant to fund firefighter training and purchase of firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, fund wellness and fitness education programs, and modifications to their fire station facility. The grant is issued by the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP) under the United States Fire Administration of the Department of Homeland Security.

"Our communities need reliable and effective fire safety," said Enzi. "These grants are specific to the needs of Wyoming fire departments to update training and equipment. It ensures that our firefighters can provide the best emergency protection for themselves and Wyoming residents."

AFGP awards one-year grants directly to fire departments to support firefighters and the services they provide. This year the AFGP will provide $750 million to fire departments across the nation.
