Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) attended the U.S. Department of Labor announcement of the 2018 HIRE (Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing) Vets Medallion Program Demonstration Award, recognizing the meaningful and verifiable efforts undertaken by job creators to hire and retain veterans. Honorees include small businesses, community-based nonprofits, and national companies.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) and Rep. Linda Sánchez (D-Whittier), today introduced legislation to honor Vietnam War veterans. The bill would designate the last Saturday in March as “Welcome Home Vietnam Veteran’s Day.”

As a California State Assemblyman, Cook successfully introduced and passed legislation at the state level to establish March 30 as “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” in California.

WASHINGTON-   President Trump has signed HR 3218, Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2017. Rep. Cook was a co-sponsor of the legislation, which includes language from his Veterans Education Equity Act.

Cook introduced the Veterans Education Equity Act in January 2017 to fix a problem in Post-9/11 GI Bill housing payments for student veterans, which prevented some veterans from receiving a fair housing payment.

WASHINGTON-   Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) voted today for HR 3218, Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2017. The bill passed the House unanimously. Rep. Cook was a co-sponsor of the legislation, which includes language from his original bill.

Cook’s original bill, the Veterans Education Equity Act, was introduced in January 2017. It fixes a problem in the way the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) determines Post-9/11 GI Bill housing payments for student veterans, which prevents some veterans from receiving a fair housing payment.

WASHINGTON- Rep. Paul Cook (R-Apple Valley) announced the US Senate has passed his bill, HR 244, the Hire Vets Act of 2017. The bill already passed the House of Representatives overwhelmingly in February. Rep. Cook had reintroduced this bipartisan bill earlier this year. It was introduced last Congress and passed the House with unanimous support, but was unable to pass the Senate before the end of the year. The bill now heads back to the House for final passage as the Senate made minor technical changes to it.
