Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senators Craig Thomas and Mike Enzi, both R-Wyo., said a Wyoming airport is set to receive federal grant funding to improve passenger safety.

The City of Evanston will receive about $7.7 million to conduct safety area improvements to the Evanston-Uinta County Burns Field that are required to relocate the runway. The improvements are needed to accommodate the existing and projected aircraft mix at Burns Field. The enhancements are expected to improve the FAA design and safety standards associated with these aircraft operations.

"Helping to ensure the safety of passengers as they travel in Wyoming is a top priority," the senators said. "We are pleased the Evanston airport received this funding to help improve the quality of transportation in the state."
