Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman MacArthur, co-chair of the Bipartisan Heroin Task Force announced that New Jersey will receive $12,995,621 in new funding to combat opioid addiction. This funding is the first of two rounds of grants provided for in the 21st Century Cures Act, which established the State Targeted Response to the Opioid Crisis Grants program.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman MacArthur today announced that he will serve as the new co-chair of the Bipartisan Task Force to Combat the Heroin Epidemic. Congressman MacArthur will replace outgoing Chair, Congressman Frank Guinta (R-NH) and join Congresswoman Annie Kuster (D-NH) as co-lead of the group.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman MacArthur recently introduced two pieces of bipartisan legislation to help families pay for the overwhelming costs associated with drug treatment.

New Jersey’s heroin overdose rate is triple the soaring U.S. rate with Burlington and Ocean Counties making up nearly 13% of the heroin related deaths in the state of New Jersey since 2004. With treatment and recovery efforts remaining a top concern, over 184,000 individuals have been admitted to substance abuse treatment facilities in New Jersey since 2010.
