Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet and U.S. Representative Scott Tipton today celebrated the Senate's passage of their bipartisan bill to protect more than 100,000 acres of the Hermosa Creek Watershed, an area in the San Juan National Forest north of Durango.

Bennet and Merkley were lead sponsors along with former Republican Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown on the bipartisan CROWDFUND Act, which was passed on April 5, 2012 as part of the JOBS Act, which allows small businesses to raise start-up capital on the internet.

The Federal Data Center Consolidation Act, introduced last year by Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO), Tom Coburn (R-OK), and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), and cosponsored by Homeland Security and Government Affairs Chairman Tom Carper (D-DE), was included in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), an annual bill authorizing funding for the Pentagon.

Bennet, Udall, and Tipton worked closely with Governor John Hickenlooper and Pueblo elected officials to urge the EPA to include the site, and sent a letter in March urging the EPA to help with cleanup efforts as the community lacked the necessary resources.

In a speech on the Senate floor, Bennet urged his Senate colleagues to look to Udall as an example of the leadership needed to break the gridlock in Washington and move the country forward.

The Medical Electronic Data Technology Enhancement for Consumers' Health (MEDTECH) Act would exempt low-risk medical software and mobile apps from FDA regulation and provide greater certainty regarding what software will be regulated by the agency to protect consumers.

In a Senate Agriculture Committee hearing, Bennet raised concerns he's heard from rural Colorado communities that new conservation programs like the Agricultural Land Easement program are not being implemented as Congress intended.
