Washington, D.C. - Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo, is calling attention to a new Department of Education website that should aid students in choosing and applying to a university, financing their college educations, and preparing for life as a post-secondary student.

The website, www.studentaid.ed.gov, was produced by the Federal Student Aid (FSA) office and provides information that students and parents “should consult as early as possible.” Beginning with advice for elementary children that includes links like “Your Mind is Your Ticket to the Future,” and “Yes-I can Afford College,” the FSA website addresses issues that students of all ages will encounter as they prepare for college.

Enzi, a senior member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, specifically pointed out the website’s coverage of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) program. Students and recent college graduates will recognize FAFSA as the application they must file to be eligible for federal student loans.

“This improves the accessibility of the federal student aid program for parents and students. The Department of Education has done a good job of posting answers to questions that nearly every student will have about the FAFSA application,” Enzi said.

Sen. Enzi appreciated the emphasis the website places on making college accessible to all students.

“Everyone in Wyoming should have the opportunity and support to attend college if they would like, and Federal Financial Aid for Students has opened the door for hundreds of students. Parents and students will find the information on this site extremely valuable,” said Enzi.
