Washington, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., received U.S. District Judge Clarence Brimmer's decision to temporarily halt a pending ban on snowmobiles in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park with favor.

Enzi made the following comments:

"Judge Brimmer was able to cut through a lot of the rhetoric and see how much of an incredible burden the snowmobile ban has placed on local communities, not to mention the disappointment felt by snowmobilers. He has an on-the-ground perspective that a judge sitting behind a bench nearly two thousand miles away in one of the country's largest metropolitan areas just doesn't have.

"Judge Brimmer's ruling affirms that the needs of the Parks, the communities that surround them and park visitors are tied together. When the focus on one interest becomes too great it results in harm to the others. It's unfortunate this good judgment wasn't used in the court hearing that took place before the winter season began.

"We are blessed to have Yellowstone and Grand Teton in Wyoming and we need to take care of these treasures. We also need to allow reasonable access to the parks so people can experience them. We have found a way to do both. I hope that again reason will win out and we can go back to a management plan that protects the park without harming local communities."
