Washington, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., is encouraging Wyoming fire departments to attend grant-writing workshops across the state that could help improve local firefighting programs.

The Department of Homeland Security, in conjunction with the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), has planned a series of workshops designed to help fire departments apply for federal grant funding from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP).

• Feb. 4, 6-10 p.m., Rock Creek Fire Department, Rock Creek

• Feb. 5-6, 6-10 p.m., Cheyenne DOT Auditorium, Cheyenne

• Feb. 7, 12-4 p.m., University of Wyoming Extension Facility, Casper

• Feb. 9, 6-8 p.m., Lander Fire Department, Lander

• Feb. 10, 6-8 p.m., Sheridan Fire Department, Sheridan

• Feb. 11, 6-8 p.m., Campbell County Training Facility, Gillette



The program's funds are used by the nation's firefighters to increase the effectiveness of firefighting operations, firefighter health and safety programs, new firefighting equipment, emergency medical services programs and fire prevention and safety programs.
