Washington, D.C. – Interns in U.S. Senator Mike Enzi's, R-Wyo., Washington, D.C. office, can expect the unexpected.

Travis McNiven, a senior at Utah State in Logan, Utah, said he came to Enzi's D.C. office to gain perspective in policy making as it relates to agriculture. Little did he know he would be offered much more.

McNiven, who is majoring in animal science with minors in both agribusiness and political science, began as an intern and was promoted to staff assistant.

"As an intern, I attended hearings and mark up sessions, wrote letters, and researched different topics. I was learning a lot about the legislative process and having a great time with it. I never expected to be offered a position, but when the opportunity arose, I took it," said McNiven.

McNiven is the son of Kevin and Patty McNiven of Lander. He will graduate this spring and hopes to represent agricultural interests in international and domestic policy.

Individuals interested in a fall internship in Washington, D.C. should contact Enzi's Intern Coordinator at 202-224-3424 or 888-250-1879. The application is accessible online at enzi.senate.gov and can be faxed to 202-228-0359.
