Washington, D.C. – Interns in U.S. Senator Mike Enzi's, R-Wyo., Washington, D.C. office can expect a challenge.

Dain Bassett, a junior at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., said he came to Enzi's D.C. office to see how he would handle responsibility and tough situations.

Bassett, who is majoring in both physics and math, said his interests are more diverse than his majors.

"I've already committed myself to serving the government in some form. There isn't anyone catering to us so we have to just get in there and do it for ourselves. It seems the average age of people working on Capitol Hill is pretty young. It wouldn't function without young people willing to work for close-to-nothing," Bassett said.

Bassett said he was ready for a challenge, but didn't realize the office would be so busy.

"During the duration of my internship I responded to constituent mail, gave tours around the Capitol, researched constituent concerns, and performed other office tasks," Bassett said.

Bassett is the son of Forbes and Lorraine Brown-Bassett of Cheyenne. After college, Bassett plans to continue his education at the University of Wyoming where he hopes to graduate with a Masters in physics or math.
