Washington, D.C. - The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) has awarded the Shoshone Tribe on the Wind River Reservation grants totaling $6,000 to improve its library services, U.S. Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., said Friday.

The Native American Library Services Basic Grants assist tribal libraries in providing library services to their communities. These non-competitive grants support core library operations, helping to ensure a basic level of library services.

"I am pleased the tribe is getting some assistance, this will be good for the community. Libraries are important because they are warehouses of knowledge. They help people remember the past and better prepare for the future," said Enzi.
