Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., said a program to help increase awareness for Wind River College students about the dangers of drinking and other high-risk behavior is set to receive federal grant funding.

The Department of Education has awarded Wind River College $145,584 this year in federal grant money under the Competition to Prevent High-Risk Drinking or Violent Behavior Among College Students program.

The program provides funding to develop, enhance, implement, and evaluate campus and/or community based strategies to prevent high-risk drinking or violent behavior among college students through educational awareness, cognitive-behavioral skills training, motivational enhancement, policy and law enforcement, social norms interventions, and campus-community partnerships.

The Wind River Tribal College was chartered by the Northern Arapaho Business Council on September 11, 1997. It's mission is to provide educational programs together with culturally-oriented educational opportunities for members of the Northern Arapaho Tribe and citizens of the Wind River Indian Reservation and surrounding communities, according to the college's website (www.wrtribalcollege.org).
