Blue Water Navy veterans served our country honorably, but we failed them. I joined a bipartisan group of my Veteran’s Committee colleagues to urge the Senate to pass the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act and give our heroes the care they earned. They can’t wait any longer.
Joined @americanredcross for their Holiday for Heroes event to send cards to troops serving abroad, who can't be home for the holidays. We know how hard it is to be away from your families over the holidays, so know we deeply appreciate your sacrifice and service to our great nation.
Joined the University City community, first responders, and military leaders, to honor the Yoon family, who was tragically killed by a jet crash ten years ago. Four trees will help us remember the victims for years to come-- Youngmi Lee, Seokim Lee, Grace, and Rachel. We will never forget.
Visited @stepsocal, which helps servicemembers and veterans become financially self-sufficient by offering counseling and educational programs. They're part of a network of service organizations helping San Diego servicemembers and veterans transition to civilian life.
Visited @prokidsgolf in City Heights to see how they combine academic programs with golf lessons to help undeserved youth develop skills to be successful. Around 1,000 kids enroll annually and their outreach programs serve 2,500 kids annually.
Joined @mamaskitchensd on #WorldAIDSDay for their annual Tree of Life Ceremony to remember those we've lost to HIV/AIDS. Americans are living longer thanks to investments in health care innovation. We must continue to lead those efforts in San Diego and nationally. #RocktheRibbon
Joined @ucsdhillel for their Hanukkah celebration at the site of the future Beverly and Joseph Glickman Hillel Center in La Jolla-- a fitting addition to a week celebrating triumph over challenges.
Happy Thanksgiving, San Diego. I’m thankful to represent the 52nd district in Congress and for the opportunity to serve our community. I hope everyone enjoys the weekend surrounded by loved ones.
Joined San Diego startup @cloudbeds to unveil their new headquarters in Bankers Hill. They have roots at @radyschool and provide cloud-based technology to the hospitality industry, making San Diego the perfect spot as they continue to hire employees and grow. #sdlifechanging
#TeamPeters and I toured @sdconventionctr to see how one of San Diego's top visitor destinations draws events from Comic Con to the Society for Neuroscience, who's in town this week. In 2018, the convention center is projected to add $1.12 billion to our regional economy thanks to the more than 862,000 people that visit, stay, and shop in Downtown San Diego. #visitsd
Gathered with San Diegans from all faiths to mourn the victims of the #Pittsburgh tragedy. Even in dark times, we cannot allow hate to divide us. #UnitedAgainstHate
#TeamPeters and I joined SANDAG for a tour of the #MidCoast Corridor project--the largest infrastructure project in the region--which will connect San Diego communities from the border to UTC and create thousands of jobs from construction to operation. #KeepSanDiegoMoving
