Washington, D.C. - Legislation sponsored today by U.S. Senator Craig Thomas would name the Federal Courthouse in Jackson in honor of former Wyoming Governor and U.S. Senator Cliff Hansen. The bill is cosponsored by Senator Mike Enzi.

"Wyoming has enjoyed a long history of outstanding leaders and strong individuals," Thomas said. "These women and men sought the best for small towns with big expectations and in turn have exemplified what it really means to be a leader in their communities."

"Senator Cliff P. Hansen stands as a singular, steadfast example of leadership and rugged heart - uniquely American and all-together Wyoming," Thomas said.

Hansen's extensive record of public service in Wyoming spans over 40 years and includes being a member of his local school board, Teton County Commissioner, University of Wyoming Board of Trustees, Governor of Wyoming, and United States Senator. He is currently a resident of the Jackson, Wyoming community.

"Senator Hansen turned the spirit of Wyoming into deed. Our state is still benefitting from his leadership as am I personally. Some members of my staff had the privilege of serving Wyoming with this true gentleman. Their experience has helped me do my job better," said Enzi. "I'm proud to join Senator Thomas in proposing this legislation honoring such a deserving individual."

The Jackson Federal Courthouse is currently located at 145 East Simpson Avenue. The Thomas legislation would change the name to the "Clifford P. Hansen Federal Courthouse."
