Lance Announces Anti-Opioid Grant Opportunities

Jun 29, 2018
Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today announced the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has outlined a process for states and localities to secure federal grants to help aid in the country’s response to the opioid crisis.

Congress appropriated additional funds to help the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention combat the opioid epidemic in every state in the Nation.  The CDC has now announced the process by which merit-based grants can be secured for mitigation efforts nationwide.  I urge New Jersey entities from all corners of the Garden State to put their best drug abuse prevention proposals together and work with the CDC to make their applications as strong as possible.  We must explore every idea to win the fight against drug abuse and these grants are another tool to use,” said Lance, a member of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee and Combat Heroin Taskforce.

Background:

These grants were appropriated earlier this year in the March 2018 omnibus.
