Lance Secures Legislative Victories in Government Funding Measure

Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) released the following statement after passage of the fiscal year 2018 omnibus package:

“The government funding bill passed today provides critical funding for our military and our veterans.  It makes important federal investments to combat opioid abuse epidemic, secure our borders and rebuild and restore our infrastructure.

“Also contained in the measure are many priorities important to New Jersey that I fought vigorously to pass including funding for the Gateway Tunnel, funding for the Delaware and Rahway Rivers, funding to improve mental health care and school safety and legislative language to bolster background checks before firearm purchases.  My own proposals to open CRS reports to the public and to crack down on phone scammers were also made part of the omnibus spending measure.

“This catch-all budget bill is hardly a perfect measure.  It is, however, a good compromise between the two parties in Congress and the White House that ensures the federal government remains fully funded and functional."
