CONGRESSWOMAN FUDGE DENOUNCES TERRORIST BOMBING IN JERUSALEM THAT KILLED ONE PERSON AND INJURED DOZENS OF OTHERS, INCLUDING A CLEVELAND HEIGHTS TEENAGER

WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS,OH - Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) issued the following statement today regarding the detonation of a bomb in Israel, in the area of a crowded bus stop in Jerusalem.  According to Israeli authorities one woman was killed.  The explosion caused injuries to at least 25 other people including an 18 year old Cleveland Heights resident, who according to her family, had just stepped off a bus directly into the area of the blast.

"I was saddened to learn that one of my constituents, an 18 year old high school student, was injured in the March 23rd terrorist bombing in Jerusalem.  I've been informed she was en route to visit her sister and had just stepped off a public bus when the blast occurred. While her legs caught on fire, her father indicates thankfully, that she is expected to make a full recovery.  I offer my deepest condolences to the family of the woman killed and wishes for a complete and speedy recovery for all of the people who were injured." said Congresswoman Fudge.

"Not only do I condemn in the strongest terms this terrorist act, but also the rockets and mortars fired from Gaza in recent days.  I would hope that people of good conscience agree, violence that targets innocent civilians is a heinous act wherever it occurs.  I believe the people of Israel have a right to live in peace and a right to self-defense.  I call on those groups responsible to end their terrorist attacks."
