Internships
An internship provides students and recent college graduates with a first hand look at a Congressional office and the political process.
I am seeking intelligent, energetic, and professional individuals who are able to perform well in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented legislative environment.
Responsibilities

Process and sort incoming mail
-
Greet official visitors and answer phones
-
Conduct legislative research
-
Attend Committee and issue briefings and meetings and report to legislative staff
-
Assist with constituent services and requests
-
Assist legislative staff with writing and circulating Dear Colleague letters and getting signatures
-
Accompany staff to events
-
Complete data entry
-
Attend to administrative tasks
-
Assemble and distribute news clips
-
Become familiar with the district and its relevant issues
-
Work closely with staff on other duties as needed

Assist constituents with Congressional Tours
-
Propose and complete one major project, due by the end of the internship
Requisites
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
An active interest in government and politics
-
An ability to meet the demands of a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment
-
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
-
Familiarity with the 1st Congressional District is helpful, but not required
