It takes a few moments but it will help to understand so much about our Veterans. Why the most bitter, longest battle any of us has to fight is with the very organization that has promised to help us? The VA will rate you at 100% (permanent and total) and will say your children have access to Chapte...r 35 Dependents Education Assistance (DEA) so that you’ll medically retire without appealing. But once you’ve been out for 3 months, they’ll notify you that THEY made a mistake and that your overall rating is dropping to 30% (and your kids won’t have DEA). As chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, I’m proud of the work our committee and the Senate have done to help veterans this year. From improving the Veterans Choice Program so that veterans have timely access to health care to holding the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, we’ve been working hard to ensure that veterans get the care and services they deserve.
