House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen tonight issued the following statement on the agreement between House and Senate leaders to lift the statutory budget caps and increase funding for national defense, provide emergency disaster aid funding, lift the debt ceiling, extend certain health care and tax authorizations, and maintain government operations.

“It is time that Congress does its Constitutional duty to enact responsible legislation that funds the entirety of the federal government, most importantly our national defense. It is also essential that the areas that have suffered from natural disasters receive the aid they need and deserve to recover and rebuild. This legislation allows these funds to move forward.

“It is the intention of the Appropriations Committee to go to work immediately to complete the 12 annual, critically important funding bills as soon as possible.”
