MOORESTOWN – Congressman Tom MacArthur announced that Lockheed Martin has received a $784 million missile defense contract to be carried out in Moorestown, New Jersey.
Lockheed Martin’s contract provides options to develop, deploy, test, and operate a Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR). The LRDR combines radar, ballistic missile defense algorithms, and combat systems to support the defense of the Homeland.
Congressman MacArthur’s position on the House Armed Services Committee has made him a leader on national security issues, including missile defense. In his first six months in office Congressman MacArthur offered amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act to modernize ships equipped with the AEGIS missile defense system, as well as advance initiatives to send the AEGIS Ashore missile defense system to our allies abroad.
“This is great news for Lockheed Martin and even better news for the Moorestown community,” said Congressman MacArthur. “A strong missile defense is critical to protecting our homeland and troops abroad, as well as our allies. The LRDR radar is a welcome addition to our national security missile defense system and will help to keep Americans safe.”
