States Army 1959-1960; Army Reserve 1960-1967; member, Arizona Governors staff
1965-1967; Pima County attorney 1973-1976; elected as a Democrat to the United
States Senate in 1976; reelected in 1982 and again in 1988 and served from
January 3, 1977, to January 3, 1995; not a candidate for reelection in 1994;
chairman, Select Committee on Intelligence (One Hundred Third Congress).
