    Thanks to my friend Melvin Osborn, a tireless advocate for lymphedema research & treatment, for introducing me to 2-year-old Alice. Alice has been diagnosed with lymphedema &I appreciated meeting with her & her family to discuss our efforts to increase funding for research.

    Today, I visited The Pavilion Behavioral Health System & met with the staff who are on the front lines of the opioid epidemic. Congress is helping fight the epidemic from all angles, including increasing access to the treatment services people need to overcome addiction.

    This morning I joined the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program volunteers in Champaign to help bag groceries for low income seniors in the community. Thank you for having me!

    Thank you to Argenta-Oreana Current Events Teacher, Eric Gebben, for having me come talk to students this morning. They had great questions on opioids, health care, education and more. I always enjoy helping students learn more about our government and political process.

    This morning and I sorted and delivered meals with the in Edwardsville. Thank you to longtime volunteer Tim Ashe for letting us help take meals to seniors and disabled people in the community.

    Honored to speak at the dedication ceremony for the Bloomington Firefighter Service Memorial. It was a community effort in making this memorial a reality. Congrats to on 150 years of service & we are thankful for those in uniform who selflessly run towards danger.

    Glad to support the First Responders Ceremony in Decatur yesterday. I met Chris Moore at open office hours and he shared his passion of raising awareness for Slow Down Move Over, which helps protect our first responders on the road.

    This morning I met with Connie and John, and their friend Suzanne. They founded Marisa's Purpose to save others from experiencing what they did when they lost their daughter to an opioid overdose. We discussed ways we can work together to combat this epidemic.

    Manufacturing is vital to our economy. I kicked off with a tour of Mueller Co. in Decatur. Thank you to plant manager James Clark, Nicole Bateman from & Randy Prince from the Illinois Manufacturers' Association for joining me.
