    Americans deserve better than relentless dysfunction & politicians who are more interested in scoring political points than executing the basic functions of government. I'll continue working to bring both sides together to bring the shutdown to an end as quickly as possible.

    Let’s be clear – this government shutdown, driven by House Republicans and the president, was completely avoidable. Washington’s constant culture of failure and ineffectiveness was on full display this week – and families across the Heartland are understandably frustrated.

    I was excited to hear that the International Women’s Baseball Center is planning memorialize Penny Marshall, the late director who put our amazing Rockford Peaches on the map! Her work cemented the legacy of these trailblazing women and I can't think of a better way to honor her.

    Extremely disappointed & POTUS refused to support the bipartisan funding bill. Rather than working w/ both parties to keep the govt. open, they're playing partisan politics w/ the well-being of Illinois families & pushing us closer to a shutdown. This was avoidable.

    The provides our farmers with the support they need to put food on our plates. Although this process was far from perfect, I'm glad we were able to pass a bipartisan Farm Bill that provides our growers and producers with some certainty during these turbulent times.
