    Its the same here in Austria. I have been doing surgery in the largest Hospital in Vienna for 10 years. I have seen only 1 gunshot wound. In my two years in the US I saw gunshot wounds in children in 3/4 of my calls.

    Mark Meza, 20, was working at Borderline Bar & Grill when he was shot and killed. He was a graduate of the Carpinteria Unified School District. “Mark was loved by many in our community and will be dearly missed," the school district said in a statement.

    Jake Dunham, 21, was close friends with Blake Dingman, who also was killed at Borderline Bar & Grill. His father said he tried calling after learning about the shooting. "I keep calling it but there’s no answer. It just keeps ringing out. And he always answers his phone."

    Kristina Morisette, 20, worked as a cashier at Borderline Bar & Grill. “Kristina was always the nicest girl,” said a friend who grew up with her. “She never had a frown on her face – it was rare. She always had a positive attitude about everything.”

    Alaina Housley, 18, was a student at Pepperdine University majoring in English. She was also the niece of the actress Tamera Mowry-Housley. Her parents said in a statement, "She was everything we could hope for in a child: kind, smart, beautiful and respectful."

    Sgt. Ron Helus, 54, was a husband, father, and a 29-year veteran of the local sheriff's department. He was responding to the shooting when he was killed. The sheriff said he called his wife just before entering Borderline and said, "I gotta go. I love you, I'll call you later.”

    Sean Adler, 48, was a father of 2 who worked at Borderline to make extra money. His sister said he tried to disarm the shooter. “He was a protector, always sticking up for people. He was a caring, compassionate individual. I just don't understand. I don't understand the world."

    Justin Meek, 23, was an alumnus of California Lutheran University and was credited by the university for saving lives during the shooting. Friends said he loved line dancing at the country-themed Borderline bar and even founded Cal Lutheran's line dancing club.
