    As a mother, a grandmother, and American, news of another child dying in U.S. custody is heartbreaking. Every person and child in U.S. custody should receive the care they need, and we must keep demanding answers from this administration.

    These are heartbreaking, and they show us who is really being impacted by President Trump’s unnecessary shutdown. Real people and real families are struggling and it’s time for Republicans to work with us to end this.

    I’m disabled, wife is TSA Supv for 15 years. 2 daughters living w/us. Forced 2 move in Oct, rent doubled, used savings 2 move. Praying last check & SS come Friday, or we will be homeless next week. Next will be heat & lights, food, trans to get wife to work.

    Instead of bringing certainty into people’s lives, President Trump is continuing to hurt workers & families w/ the . He said he would be proud to shut down the government—now he seems to not know how to get out of it. It’s time for him to work with Dems to end this.

    My husband is active duty Coast Guard. Everyone thinks the military is getting paid during the shutdown, but the Coast Guard is facing no pay on the 1st due to being DHS and not DoD. We live in NYC, pay over $2K/month in rent, have a toddler and one on the way.

    President Trump said he would be proud to shut down the gov if he couldn’t get taxpayer dollars for his wasteful border wall—he’d take the blame for it. Now, w/ hundreds of thousands of workers wondering when they will be paid, it’s up to Republicans to work with us to fix it.

    This shutdown is truly absurd, and would not have happened if President Trump had simply ignored the 11th-hour taunts of a handful of conservatives and instead moved forward with the Senate’s bipartisan bill.

    This is about people and families. Republicans need to do the right thing here before they hurt workers across the country for absolutely no reason at all.

    This shutdown will hurt relatively low wage earning public servants who will not get paid over the holidays. Whatever our disagreements, holding their pay hostage is just an awful thing to do over Christmas.

    I just landed in DC from home and am headed to vote now against the awful House bill. The Senate already passed a bipartisan bill to fund government and there’s no reason to head to a shutdown.

    The Senate passed a bipartisan bill to keep the government open through the holidays & into the beginning of next year. Pres Trump had a temper tantrum & now we're headed toward a completely unnecessary shutdown. This is truly absurd & no way for a country like ours to be run.
