Hi Jamie, a lot of your constituents are new to the area since the last votes/bridge discussion and DO want the light rail.

New to the area, or are new to the work force. SW WA doesn't oppose light rail. JHB does b/c her campaign donors are largely area corporations that benefit from suppressed wages. When cities are connected wages go up as workers have more options where they can work.

I am a Clark County commuter who wants light rail. I’d like to see us work better with Oregon to develop regional transportation solutions.
-
Plus if we had light rail we would attract a lot of high wage professionals looking to have options outside of Portland's super expensive housing.
-
Light rail is of high benefit to lower wage earners too. Owning a car, commuting, & paying tolls adds up. We can’t rely on buses and ride shares when we have an outdated, underfunded interstate highway system.
-
It's a benefit for everyone, but I think the reason Herrera is against it is that it would make it easier for people to move out of Portland into Vancouver, and then she would loose the next election.
-
That’s already happening and she can only slow it down. But most of it is due to the fact that the loudest voices on this issue have been North Clark County voters. Those of us who would benefit more have been too silent.
-
We've voted it down something like 7 times. I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you. We don't want it in any capacity. New bridges or let the existing ones collapse. Thanks.
-
Hopefully neither of us will be on one when they do.

We want light rail. You are living in the past, Jamie.
-
“Soundly rejected” in an advisory vote weighted with the toll issue. I know it’s not your problem. (Sea lions!) Still, I hope you are open to the most reasonable solution.

This Clark Co resident & her entire family demands light rail. The bus system doesn’t work with the crowded I-5 bridge. We voted for
@GovInslee & will work tirelessly to get you@HerreraBeutler out of office unless you truly work in a bipartisan way & stop doing NRAs bidding - 1 more reply

Any actual SOLUTIONS included? You need to either add light rail or a whole other bridge. So what actual plan are you supporting?
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

How do you get around when you are in D.C.,
@HerreraBeutler? Do you use the Metro? D.C. has a great public transportation system. By fighting against lightrail and other public options, Republican lawmakers will slow regional growth. Why not try being forward thinking? -
Unfortunately the max ISN'T a "great" public transportation system. It's a free criminal network.

Unfortunately for your argument, it is an educated talking point, and one you have no rebuttal to. So I'm going to go ahead and stick with it. Maybe address the Max crime distribution network, then we can talk having it make a stop here. Thx.
-
I believe the question was, do you even ride it? I’ve ridden it for years. There are unruly teenagers now and then but I’ve never seen criminal activity. Sure, it happens but not disproportionately. If yours is an educated talking point, where’s the citation?
-
I respect the hell out of you, don't get me wrong. But acting like there's little to no crime on the Max is pretty insensitive to all of the victims.
-
I’m not saying there isn’t crime. I’ve ridden at night and am careful. All cities w/ public transp. systems have issues, though, and the
#s aren’t disproportionate. There’s crime at the mall, too. Our metro area has grown and suffers economically w/out good public transportation -
Law enforcement, crime prevention, awareness and response aren't scaling. More people are moving here by the day. There are already tents on damn never every main street in Vancouver. Mass transit to Portland is going to exponentially increase the issues here.
