Camping Applications

The Department of Parks & Recreation provides quality recreational and leisure time experiences for residents and visitors of the County of Kauai.

Camping Permits are issued for the following County beach parks:

  • Haena Park (CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO STORM DAMAGE)
  • Hanalei Blackpot Park (CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO STORM DAMAGE)
  • Anini Beach Park (closed every Tuesday from 10 am to 12 noon on Wednesday for maintenance)
  • Anahola Beach Park (closed every Thursday from 10 am to 12 noon on Friday for maintenance)
  • Hanamaulu Beach Park  :THIS PARK IS CLOSED FOR CAMPING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, IT IS OPEN FOR DAY USE ONLY FROM 6:00AM TO 10:00PM DAILY. GATES ARE LOCKED FROM 10:00PM TO 6:00AM DAILY.
  • Salt Pond Park (closed every Tuesday from 10 am to 12 noon Wednesday for maintenance)
  • Lucy Wright Park (closed every Monday from 10 am to 12 noon Tuesday for maintenance)
  • Lydgate Park Camp Ground  (closed every Tuesday from 10 am to 12 noon Thursday for maintenance)

Camping permit fees for the above listed camp grounds, excluding Lydgate Park Camp Ground (see Lydgate Camp Ground pricing below), are $3.00 per adult, per night for non-residents and free for residents of the State of Hawaii who can show proof of residency that they have lived in the State of Hawaii for a minimum of two hundred (200) consecutive days. Children 17 years of age and younger are also free and must camp with at least one adult 18 years of age or older.  Please download application form and instruction sheet below.  DO NOT MAIL IN CASH!

Lydgate Camp Ground

Camping permit fees for the Lydgate Camp Ground:

PLEASE NOTE! WHEN BOTH RESIDENTS & NON-RESIDENTS OCCUPY THE SAME CAMP SITE, BOTH DAILY FEES APPLY ($5.00 plus $25.00 = $30.00 per night)

Lydgate Camp Ground has assigned camp sites.  Camping permits for the Lydgate Camp Ground may be obtained thru the mail or at any of the five permitting locations during posted hours of operation. No permits are issued at the camp ground. Please download the Lydgate camping application form and instruction sheet below. DO NOT MAIL IN CASH!

HANAMAULU BEACH PARK CLOSED FOR CAMPING - Monday, November 25, 2013

Hanamaulu Beach Park is currently closed for camping until further notice.  The park is open to the public from 6:00am to 10:00pm daily.  Park is closed to the public from 10:00pm to 6:00am daily and park gates are locked from 10:00pm each night and opened at 6:00am each morning.

 
CLOSURE OF HAENA & HANALEI/BLACKPOT PARKS AND CAMP GROUNDS DUE TO STORM DAMAGE - Tuesday, April 17, 2018

Effective immediately, the Haena Beach Park and Camp Ground is closed due to storm related damage to Kuhio Highway which has cut off access to the beach park and camp ground.  It is unknown at this time when access to the beach park and camp ground will be open again.

Also, effective immediately, the Hanalei/Blackpot Park and Camp Ground is also closed indefinitely due to severe damage to the comfort station and roadway.  It is unknown when the facilities may be replaced and the park reopened for public access and use.

At this time, the general public is encouraged for their own safety, not to enter these areas while recovery/repair work is ongoing.

CAMPERS WITH PERMITS FOR THESE TWO LOCATIONS ARE REQUIRED TO CONTACT OUR PARKS PERMITTING OFFICE AT 808-241-4463 OR 808-241-4458 TO LET US ASSIST YOU IN FINDING ALTERNATIVE CAMP GROUNDS OR TO HELP PROCESS ANY REFUND REQUESTS, MAHALO.
