We conduct elections, investigate charges of unfair labor practices, and protect the rights of workers to act together, serving the northwest from our main office in Seattle, a subregional office in Portland and a resident office in Anchorage. If you have questions or wish to file a charge or petition for election, please visit one of our offices or call and ask for the Information Officer on duty. Public Comments Invited on Proposal to Close Anchorage NLRB Office

National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Richard F. Griffin, Jr. announced that he is considering a proposal to close the Agency’s office in Anchorage, Alaska.  The Office of the General Counsel is inviting public comments on the proposal to realign Agency resources.

Tesoro, Steelworkers Reach $8.08 Million Settlement

Washington, D.C.—The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has approved a settlement agreement between Tesoro Refining and Marketing and the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union, AFL-CIO-CLC (Steelworkers). Under the bilateral agreement, Tesoro will pay more than $8.08 million to 769 employees at their Carson, CA and Anacortes, WA facilities who engaged in the winter 2015 refinery strike. They will also post a notice for employees of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act.

On December 15, 2014, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) published in the Federal Register its Final Rule amending its representation case procedures.  The Final Rule will take effect on April 14, 2015, and will apply to all cases filed on or after that date.  

Federal judge orders ILWU to stop filing grievances or lawsuits over disputed work

A district court judge has ordered the International Longshore and Warehouse Union to stop processing grievances and filing lawsuits regarding its dispute with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers over the work of plugging in, unplugging and monitoring refrigerated shipping containers at the Port of Portland.

Federal judge orders Anchorage hotel to recognize and bargain with union

A U.S. District Court judge has ordered the Sheraton Hotel in Anchorage, Alaska to recognize and bargain with its employees’ union representative of over thirty years after two years of increasingly tense relations that included a host of egregious unfair labor practice conduct by the Hotel, including its suspensionand discharge of Union supporters, unilateral changes in the employees’ terms and conditions of employment, prematurely declaring impasse in negotiations,  and ultimately withdrawing recognition of the Union.
