Northeast Cooperative Research Program

The Northeast Cooperative Research Program improves and increases information about commercial fishing operations and the animals they harvest. Fishermen and researchers work together to develop and conduct projects that require the specialized knowledge of each partner. Results of this research promote better science and management for fisheries, as well as effective communication and collaboration among fishing professional in the region.
To increase awareness and understanding of cooperative research within the Science Center, our staff coordinated its first ever "Speed Talks" to illustrate the diversity of collaborations among many Divisions and laboratories of the NEFSC. In the photo to the right, Henry Milliken presents a talk on cooperative gear research to reduce protected species bycatch. Check out all the presentations on our 2017 Speed Talks page »
