Nutrition Communicators Network
The USDA/CNPP Nutrition Communicators Network provides an opportunity for different communities and different organizations to join together in helping promote the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. This Network of partners includes Community Partners, National Strategic Partners, MyPlate Campus Ambassadors, and Federal Collaboration Partners.
Community Partners include dietitians, educators, community programs, doctors, schools, and authors. Community Partners can commit to any level of involvement to promote the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate – from developing an outreach program for their community to posting a link to ChooseMyPlate.gov on their organization’s website to incorporating Federal nutrition content into a communication product.
National Strategic Partner examples include large, national organizations such as healthcare corporations, media outlets, grocery retailers, health professional associations, restaurant chains, and food manufacturers. National Strategic Partners consist of companies/organizations that are national in scope and reach and also fulfill certain requirements.
MyPlate Campus Ambassadors support the mission of the MyPlate On Campus Program: to improve the nutrition and health of the students, faculty, and staff on college and university campuses. All MyPlate Campus Ambassadors must complete a basic training and demonstrate understanding of key nutrition concepts.
Individual federal employees are invited to join as a Federal Partner for information sharing activities, such as receiving emails announcements and participating in group discussions and conversations. Federal email addresses ending in .gov or .mil are required.
Federal Collaboration Partners
Federal Collaboration Partners are comprised of federal agencies/organizations which carry out federal food, nutrition, or health programs. The Federal Collaboration Partnership provides opportunities for federal agencies to extend the reach of Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate nutrition resources and communications by working collaboratively.
The Communicator’s Guide to the Dietary Guidelines is a resource for policymakers and health professionals to help them create nutrition education materials and messages for individuals, families, and other groups, based on the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
