Information For Citizens...

OSMRE oversees mining in 27 states and Indian tribes across the Nation. From our inspectors in the west to our hydrologists in Appalachia, OSMRE strives to carry out its mission as mandated by Congress in 1977.

Would you like information on our mission, scope, and oversight duties? Would you like to learn more about postmining land uses, or maybe to learn how OSMRE helps states address the daunting problems stemming from Abandoned Mine Lands? Learn more about us, form a partnership, engage in our rulemaking process, work for us, or just let us know what you think? If so, OSMRE is here to help.
