Notice of Public Hearing
A public hearing will be held regarding the recommendation by the Northeast Georgia Region 10 EMS Council to deny the City of Winder's request to open the Barrow County EMS Zone.
Interested persons may present comments in person at the public hearing, which will take place as follows:

NASEMSO Scope of Practice Model Decision-Making Framework for EMS
The National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO) has collaborated with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) to provide a derivative work of their decision-making framework to compliment state-based rules and regulations related to EMS scope of practice. NASEMSO’s “Scope of Practice Model Decision-Making Framework for Emergency Medical Services” is now available on NASEMSO’s website at https://nasemso.org/projects/ems-scope-of-practice/.
Deadline to Transition to NEMSIS V3.4.0
January 9, 2018
The deadline for all service licensees (ground ambulance services, neonatal transport services, air ambulance services, and medical first responder services) is March 31, 2018. On April 1, 2018, the GEMSIS v2.2.1 system will be placed in READ-ONLY mode, meaning that it will not accept data imports nor will it be able to create data.
For agencies that are still using GEMSIS v2.2.1 and/or Field Bridge to create incident records AND who have not already scheduled or received training, please contact Dipti Patel in our office to schedule your Agency Administrator training. Dipti can be reached by email at dipti.patel@dph.ga.gov.
New Video Highlights Importance of EMS Data
The Office of EMS recently released a two-minute animated video that shows how EMS data can be used to improve EMS systems and patient care at the local, state and national levels. It follows EMS data from the moment it is collected at the scene to when the information is analyzed.
This video, intended for all members of the EMS community, highlights the importance of collecting and sharing accurate information, and the numerous ways agencies, policymakers, researchers and others use it.

Georgia does not have a temporary license recognition or reciprocity with any state EMS licensing board.

No - Not on a Federal Deployment
A. Georgia does not have a limited recognition or a temporary license.
B. Out of state medics can perform at the BLS level without issues.
C. Out of state medics cannot perform at the ALS level without a GA license.
Yes - On a Federal Deployment
A. Georgia does not have a limited recognition or a temporary license.
B. While on a federal deployment ALS providers may provide ALS services to team members, as approved by their home medical director and state license. They will need to contact the appropriate 911 ambulance service for transport once the patient reaches the public road and/or use an air ambulance.
C. While on a federal deployment ALS providers may not provide ALS services to civilians. They can provide BLS services and turn care over to the appropriate 911 ambulance service.
