EMS Instructor Licensure

Initial License Requirements

Emergency Medical Services Instructor - Level I

  • Written recommendation from the local Medical Director
  • Current Georgia EMT, EMT-I, AEMT, P, RN, PA, or MD license in good standing
  • Current professional health and education credentials
  • Complete Instructor License Application and return it to your EMS Regional Director

Emergency Medical Services Instructor - Level II

  • Current Georgia AEMT, CT, P, RN, PA, or MD license in good standing
  • Copy of your educator course attendance certificate
  • Current professional health and education credentials
  • Successful complete NREMT AEMT Assessment examination within 24 months of application, unless the application has a current national registration as an AEMT or Paramedic.
  • Complete Instructor License Application and return it to your EMS Regional Director

Emergency Medical Services Instructor - Level III

  • Current Georgia P, RN, PA, or MD license in good standing
  • Copy of educator course attendance certificate
  • Current professional health and education credentials
  • A minimum of an Associate Degree or 90 quarter hours of college credit (or semester equivalent) from a regionally or nationally accredited institution
  • Successful complete NREMT Paramedic Assessment examination within 24 months of application, unless the application has a current national registration as Paramedic.
  • Complete Instructor License Application and return it to your EMS Regional Director

License Renewal Requirements

THE 2017 RENEWAL PERIOD IS CLOSED FOR ALL INSTRUCTORS.

EMS Instructor - Level I must:

  • No action needed. All Level I Instructors license will be renewed automatically by the department.

EMS Instructor - Level II & III must:

  • Maintain a Georgia EMS license in good standing
  • Submit an Attestation Statement verifying 1. that the instructor participated in a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of department-approved continuing education and 2. that the instructor has taught a minimum of forty (40) hours during the renewal period in one or more of the following Department approved courses: EMR, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic.

9. EMS 325 Instructional Methods in EMS - University of South Alabama Department of EMS Education
10. EMS University; EMS210 Instructional Strategies
11. RC Health Services - EMT Instructor Course 

There are occasional department approved independent Instructor course offerings across the state, for additional information please contact your Regional EMS Director. A directory can be found on our Regional EMS Offices page. 


SENDSS Portal for Instructors

Instructors can login into SENDSS to manage course information. If you are an instructor and having problems logging into SENDSS, you will need to contact the Course Coordinator to verify if the information entered in SENDSS is correct.
