Guidance for Documenting Drug Overdose-related EMS Trips

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) uses a variety of data sources to track drug overdose trends across Georgia. Please see the attached guide for documenting drug overdose-related ED visits and/or EMS trips. 

GEMSIS Elite Scheduled Maintenance and Update

ImageTrend is pleased to announce that we will be updating your ImageTrend Elite site to v1.18.12.0 on Tuesday December 18th between 8 am and 1 pm CDT.  A warning banner will appear on your site 15 minutes prior to your site updating, letting any users currently in the system know to save their work and close the browser. There may be up to 10 minutes of downtime during this update.

Highlights of the v1.18.12.0 release:

  • Customizable NFIRS report layouts for fire incident reports

  • Standard Reports for quickly creating the Call Percentage and Detailed Payroll Reports

  • An enhanced Demographic File for imports and exports

  • The 2010 Census Tract is available

Georgia EMS Agencies

All Georgia licensed EMS agencies (ground ambulance services, neonatal transport services, air ambulance services, and medical first responder services) must report EMS data using GEMSIS Elite v3.4.0 or any other NEMSIS approved ePCR vendor software in order to be complaint.

New Video Highlights Importance of EMS Data

The Office of EMS recently released a two-minute animated video that shows how EMS data can be used to improve EMS systems and patient care at the local, state and national levels. It follows EMS data from the moment it is collected at the scene to when the information is analyzed. 

This video, intended for all members of the EMS community, highlights the importance of collecting and sharing accurate information, and the numerous ways agencies, policymakers, researchers and others use it.
