Privacy Program

The Department of the Interior (DOI) Privacy Program consists of the DOI Privacy Office and privacy program offices located at each of the DOI bureaus and offices, including the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM).

The DOI Senior Agency Official for Privacy (SAOP) has agency-wide responsibility and accountability for the DOI Privacy Program and is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and facilitating DOI's privacy compliance efforts, including those related to the Privacy Act of 1974. The SAOP delegates DOI Privacy Program management functions to the Departmental Privacy Officer (DPO).

The DPO oversees privacy compliance functions and management of daily activities of the Department-wide Privacy Program. The BOEM Privacy Program is aligned with the DOI Privacy Office and managed by the BOEM Associate Privacy Officer.

The DOI Privacy Program website is the authoritative source for public information on DOI’s privacy practices, including but not limited to publication of the Department’s Privacy Act Regulations and all DOI bureau/office Privacy Impact Assessments and System of Records Notices.
