IACUC Protocol Review

In the United States, both the USDA animal welfare regulations and the Public Health Service Policy on the Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (PHS Policy) require Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees to review and approve, require modifications to (in order to secure approval) or withhold approval to those proposed research activities or proposed significant changes involving the care and use of animals. These IACUC functions are commonly called protocol review.
