Women Veteran Trailblazers

CWV is excited about our new initiative for 2019:  Women Veteran Trailblazers and is seeking help in identifying women Veterans who are Trailblazers.  Trailblazers are those women Veterans who:

  • Are pioneers
  • Has blazed a path to guide others
  • May not have been the first to do something
  • Has demonstrated that something they did is also possible for other people
  • May also have contributed to making a way for others to follow in their footsteps.

To nominate a women Veteran Trailblazer, please first gain permission from the nominee before submitting her nomination. She will be required to attend a photo shoot in the D.C.-area in early February and participate in an interview that will be used in CWV outreach efforts. Nominees will also be required to attend the official event to celebrate this initiative in mid-March, also in D.C. Deadline for nominations is Friday, January 11, 2019.

Please email completed nominations to 00W@va.gov. A nomination includes all of the following requested materials:

  • Nomination form with full name, addresses etc. of nominee and nominator
  • Nominee’s photo (head shot)
  • A one-page summary of why the women Veteran meets the definition above of a Trailblazer and how the she is continuing to serve others.
Women Veteran Athletes Initiative

Women Veteran AthletesTo raise national awareness of the service, diversity, and resilience of women Veterans, CWV will host an exhibit featuring 10 women Veteran Athletes which will travel to VA facilities nationwide.  We hope to increase awareness of women Veterans, both in VA and in the public, and to encourage women Veterans to choose VA to support their health and wellness goals.
