Duties and Functions
The responsibilities of the Division of Park Maintenance are:

  • To coordinate, implement and maintain/monitor beautification of County property.
  • To set policies, rules and regulations and administer to the needs of the public.
  • To operate and maintain County facilities which include tennis/basketball courts,  athletic fields, parks and playgrounds, stadiums, pavilions, neighborhood centers, public cemeteries and the beautification areas.

Location Change For Getting County Camping Permits
County officials announced that over the next two months camping permits will be issued at the customer service window located at the Līhu‘e Civic Center, Pi‘ikoi Building. The change will be effective from June 1 to July 31. The hours of operation will be Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m., excluding holidays. Notice of Public Hearing

A public hearing will be held to adopt the amended administrative rules for the Surf/SUP Schools and regarding the status of administrative rules for the Boating Companies at Hanalei Bay/Black Pot Beach Park pertaining thereto to be added to The Rules and Regulations Relating to the Use of Parks and Park Facilities by Peddlers and Concessionaires.

HANAMAULU BEACH PARK CAMP GROUND CLOSED
HANAMAULU BEACH PARK CLOSED FOR CAMPING - Monday, November 25, 2013
Hanamaulu Beach Park is currently closed for camping until further notice. The park is open to the public from 6:00am to 10:00pm daily. Park is closed to the public from 10:00pm to 6:00am daily and park gates are locked from 10:00pm each night and opened at 6:00am each morning.

COASTAL PATH USAGE REMINDERS

The Coast Pedestrian/Bike Path is now open from Safeway in Waipouli, along Moana Kai Road, to the Lihi in Kapaʻa and on to Kuna Bay. The Lydgate Park portion consists of the section of path from the Kamalani Camp Ground area, through the park and along the Sports Fields and along Nalu Road, north along Wailua Beach and up along Papaloa Road. We would like to pass on the following information. With the safety of the path users in mind, we would like to please ask everyone to obey all county laws regarding the use of the pedestrian/bike path. The pedestrian/bike path and the area surrounding it are considered a county park. All laws governing our parks apply to all sections of the path whether the section is officially open or closed. Signs have been installed at the trailheads and access points to the pathway and more will follow. Motorized vehicles are not allowed to operate on or park on the path

The following are some of the laws governing the use of the designated dog portion of the pathAny dog handler with a dog utilizing the shared use path portion designated to allow dogs must:

  • Be in command and control of dog at all times.
  • Have no more than two (2) dogs under his control.
  • Immediately remove his dog if it exhibits aggressive behavior.
  • Visibly carry the necessary instruments required for the removal and disposal of dog feces.
  • Pick up and dispose of any and all feces left by the dog.
  • Have the dog wear at all times a valid current dog license tag that is clearly and visibly attached to the dog's collar.
  • Have the dog on a leash that is no more that six (6) feet in length at all times.  Retractable leashes shall not be allowed.
The following are some of the laws governing the use of the path:
  • No Animals Are Allowed on the portion of the path located at Lydgate Park from Nalu Road (Lydgate Park rock sign) towards the ponds and pavilions.
  • No Motorized Vehicles Are Allowed.
  • No Camping Along the Path
  • No Open Fires Allowed.

If you are issued a citation for any violations of our Parks Ordinances, you will be required to appear in court and can be penalized up to five hundred ($500.00) for each violation.

Bicyclists using the shared use path are required to stop at all posted Stop signs posted at all path crossing.
