Collections

The National Agricultural Library holds more than 3.5 million items covering all aspects of agriculture and related sciences. The depth and richness of the collection make it a unique resource, with many materials not available anywhere else in the world.

NAL Catalog (AGRICOLA)
Delivers citations to agriculturally related books, journals, government documents, audiovisuals, and other materials, most held by the National Agricultural Library. Also indexes journal articles, book chapters, reports, and reprints. Includes some links to full text.

Digital Collections
Offers full-text digital materials, primarily USDA research and historical publications.

Additional full-text resources are available in NAL's Internet Archive collection.

Exhibits
Provides an engaging and informative view of materials from the National Agricultural Library's collection. Exhibits are organized around agricultural themes and feature newly digitized resources.

NAL General Collection (NAL-GC) Quarterly Review
NAL-GC will present several articles each quarter to showcase digitized materials from NAL's general collection and the role that the U.S. Department of Agriculture played in the lives of full-time farmers, the general public, and the larger world of American agriculture.

PubAg
A new portal for literature searches and full-text access of more than 40,000 scientific journal articles by USDA researchers and others, mostly from 1997 to 2014. New articles by agricultural researchers will be added, and older articles may be added, if possible. There is no access fee for PubAg.

Special Collections
Provides access to rare books, manuscript collections, nursery and seed trade catalogs, photographs, and posters from the 1500s to the present.

Government Documents
Explains how to find government documents at the National Agricultural Library, describes what government documents NAL collects, and offers more sources for locating government documents.
